NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 54. Which the Alabama LP gas board has excepted as law, 6.24.1 Unvented room heaters shall not be installed in bathrooms or bedrooms.

Exception no. 1: Where approved by the authority having jurisdiction, one listed wall-mounted unvented room heater equipped with an oxygen depletion safty shutoff system shall be permitted to be installed in a bathroom provided that the input rating shall not exceed 6000 Btu.hr (1760 W/hr) and combustion and ventilation air is provided as specified in 6.1 (b).
Exception No. 2: Where approved by the authority having jurisdiction, one listed wall-mounted unvented room heater equipped with an oxygen depletion safety shutoff system shall be permitted to be installed in a bedroom provided that the input rating shall not exceed 10,000 Btu/hr (2930 W/hr) and combustion and ventilation air is provided as specified in 6.1 (b)

In Alabama a heater no larger than 6,000 Btu may be installed in the bathroom of a house as long as all clearances can be met. Installation is not allowed in the bathroom of a mobile home.
In Alabama a heater no larger than 10,000 Btu may be installed in the bedroom of a house as long as all clearances can be met. Installation is not allowed in the bedroom of a mobile home.
In both cases the heater must conform to the above rules.
